As a new member of InsurLab Germany, we at X1F are passionate about full service IT solutions and their many facets. In an exclusive interview, Fränzis Horstmann and Patrick Möbis (members of the Insurance Board at X1F) talk about our fascination for InsurLab Germany and the development of solutions for the insurance and financial services sector.
Welcome to InsurLab Germany, Fränzis and Patrick. What ideas and concepts will X1F contribute? And who are you anyway?
Fränzis Horstmann: The X1F Group is a full service IT solution provider focused on regulated markets. With 12 specialized technology subsidiaries, we advise participants in the finance and insurance industry. The portfolio ranges from program and project management, integration, data analysis, artificial intelligence, IT security, identity and access management to IT infrastructure, cloud and system architecture.
Patrick Möbis: At the moment, we are particularly interested in artificial intelligence for insurance companies. And the future of insurance sales. Regulatory issues such as VAIT 2.0 & DORA are our daily business and a hot topic on the market at the moment. We are also working on solutions for open insurance and are focusing on questions of how the industry can become more sustainable and acquire the relevant evidence and certificates.
What do you find so exciting about InsurLab Germany and why did you become a member?
Möbis: We have been following the development of InsurLab Germany since it was founded because it exactly reflects our topics. It is therefore only logical to seek an alliance.
Horstmann: The combination of technology and expertise, which is the focus there, is a fundamental concern for us – precisely because we enable business with the help of IT. We found your insureNXT trade fair in 2023 not only inspiring, but also excellently positioned: with qualified visitors and high-level presentations with an exciting culture of dialog. In addition, the industry actively helped shape the context – digitalization. We really appreciate that.
You have already mentioned numerous facets of digitalization. Which topics are particularly important to you here?
Möbis: We are very excited to have the opportunity to be involved in shaping topics such as regulation. We want to support the market and contribute answers and solutions within the InsurLab topic groups that affect, improve and simplify the implementation of the regulatory framework. We find sensible ways to implement structures: As X1F, we are concerned with maintaining the operational capability of companies, improving internal and external resilience and making changes in such a way that IT landscapes remain operational in the long term and fully exploit their potential.
In concrete terms: what activities are you planning to get involved in in 2024 – and how?
Horstmann: In May 2024, we will not only have a booth at InsureNXT. In the “Trend Zone” of the trade fair, we are planning a presentation on the benefits and opportunities of embedded insurance as a business model for insurance companies. We will also be organizing a masterclass on generative artificial intelligence and are really excited to exchange ideas with other members and visitors.
Möbis: And we are already very excited to see what other discussions will unfold there. The top topic for us this year is and remains regulation, including VAIT 2.0 and DORA. It is incredibly topical and we are currently feeling a very high pressure in the industry. Of course, we want to support you with concepts and solutions.
